CATHOLIC WORSHIP MOVEMENT TO IGNITE IN ERIE REGION

Erie, Pennsylvania. April 12, 2011. Beginning May 4, the Erie region is going to be ignited with a new brand of worship, "combining the best of the worship movement and the richness of the Catholic faith," says Made2Worship founder, Greg Schlueter. "Many of us Catholics grew up content to simply 'get in' our obligation," says Schlueter, "but we are a generation yearning for relationship, for a real encounter with God."

The movement was largely inspired by contemporary worship and Pope Benedict XVI, whose recent books on Jesus Christ invite all to discover that "the heart of a genuine faith is a living, personal relationship with Jesus Christ."

With a bi-line of "Catholic Worship Movement," these monthly events will include a blend of real-life stories of faith, proclamation of the word, and "a good amount of uplifting worship."

The inaugural event on May 4th will feature a story shared by Aaron Pfoutz, a man from the St. Mary's, Pennsylvania area, who was dead for seven minutes, but believes he was sent back to share a message of God's love and presence. Fr. Steve Schreiber, Erie's diocesan director of youth and vocations, will speak on the Emmaus story.

Worship will be led by M2W, a new worship band comprised of known worship leaders, including Daniel Cabanillas, Jeannie Heinrich Mleczko and Tim Hull. Individuals and families are encouraged to bring candles which will be set on and around the "burning bush," a pyrmidical structure upon which Jesus will be adored in the Eucharist. "It's a powerful symbol of who we are and what we're all about," says Schlueter

Between events, participating families are encouraged to remain spiritually united by lighting their candle and praying every night, "even if only for 5 minutes" Schlueter says.  Soon a prayer guide will be available for download at the Made2Worship.org site. At the site they can also view and hear a playlist sampling some of of the worship songs that will be sung at M2W events.

Made2Worship corresponds to a program Schlueter began while studying for the priesthood at Mount Saint Mary's Seminary in Emmitsburg, Maryland. Called Mount 2000, that annual event is going into it's 15th year of drawing over 1500 people every year. In seminary, Schlueter discovered his "unique priestly calling as a husband, father and neighbor."

Now married and six children later, he has made substantial contributions to numerous faith endeavors, from local ministry to major Hollywood movies and movements. He explains that the movement will be successful if people "open their hearts and more fully encounter the real love of God in Jesus Christ... discover God's presence alive among us."  In a particular way they hope to "ignite renewal in parish life."

Other speakers lined up include Kathleen Peterson and Fr. Michael Kesicki (June 1), Attorney Norman "Buddy" Stark and Fr. Johnathan Schmolt (July 6), Annette Ahrens and Fr. Rich Toohey (August 3), Dr. Jeff McGovern and Fr. Chris Singer (September 7), Angie Amburn and Fr. Nick Rouch (October 5), Damon Finazzo and Msgr. William Biebel (November 2).

Schlueter is owner of Imago Dei Video Productions, the video production company that created ErieAlityTV and inspired ABC's Extreme Makeover edition featuring Clara Ward.  They are hoping to fund this program through donations and "Faith in Business," a project that will give business owners an opportunity to share short stories of faith, which he believes "is the greatest way to connect with people in our community, while fulfilling our mission."

Made2Worship is an outreach of Image Trinity, a nonprofit movement begun by Greg and Stephanie Schlueter to foster faith renewal, particularly among families. Through their partnerships with CatholicTV, CatholicExchange.com, CatholicLane.com and others, they hope to reach millions beyond the Erie region and around the world. In particular, they have hopes of a broadcast "global retreat" during Advent called Presence for Christmas, which will be an Advent version of Made2Worship.

Made2Worship takes place on the first Wednesday of every month at St. George Parish. For more information, go to Made2Worship.org.
